Fund Accounting- Assistant Manager- Essex
Our client is looking for a fund Accounting Assistant Manager Responsible for supervising and managing a team of Fund Accountants, to ensure the timely and accurate preparation and submission of report and accounts and other subsidiary information for various Unit Trusts and OEIC's on behalf of clients.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan, supervise, manage and monitor the accurate preparation of accounts and subsidiary information on behalf of clients, ensuring compliance with SORP and other regulations and ensure key deadlines and standards are achieved
• Management and oversight of team of fund accountants.
• Review accounts files, distribution rates, proof accounts and other information
• Provide technical & accounts production assistance, including training and coaching, to fund accountants & Senior Fund Accountant
• Effective liaison with external parties (clients, auditors, trustees and others) developing key relationships as appropriate.
• Effective liaison with internal departments (P&V, postings team, Tax Manager and others) developing key relationships as appropriate.
• Provide cover and back up for Fund Accountants / Senior Fund Accountants
• Deputise for Manager and support other teams where required
• Adhere to and assist the development of controls and procedures
• Recruitment of staff in conjunction with Manager
• Liaise regularly with Tax & Accounts Manager on client and staff issues, and planning and control issues
The successful candidate will have:
• Experience of managing a small team.
• A sound knowledge of the securities industry
• A sound knowledge of double entry principles and financial accounting.
• Excellent numerical skills, with accurate manipulation, analysis & checking of figure work.
• Excellent pc skills, in particular Excel.
• Experience of proof reading and able to pay attention to detail.
• Ability to manage & meet tight deadlines with flexibility for different workloads.
• Able to communicate with internal/external clients at all levels, both orally and in writing.
• Quick to develop new skills and a pro-active approach to learning and training.
• Experience in institutional accounting processes advantageous, particularly a knowledge of IAS.
Qualified/Part Qualified Accountant, preferably ACA or ACCA with significant UT / OEIC experience preferred
