cer Financial are working alongside an exciting international bank who are based in the City of London. They are seeking a Senior Lead – Operational Risk to work with them on a permanent basis.

The Responsibilities of a Senior Lead – Operational Risk Will Include:

• Lead the engagement between the risk function and both the first line and operations areas of the business to improve risk reporting and control
• Lead the analysis of identified risk to create meaningful MI including any emerging risks
• Own the ORCA and NPPA process
• To report to the Chief Risk Officer and BRC on risk mitigating actions
• To own, promote and develop the BRC reporting framework so to improve risk reporting to the committee.
• Ensure there is appropriate monitoring against risk appetite and tolerance, with effective plans in place to address any issues
• Oversee implementation of the SRA, RMF and risk policies within the London Branch
• Ensure that the SRA, RMF and Risk Taxonomy is sufficiently understood and implemented
• Work collaboratively with all areas of the Branch to improve operational risk identification and reporting
• Advice on risk strategy and oversight of current risk exposures and ensure that residual risk is within risk appetite.
• Lead bank-wide enhancement and implementation of the ORM framework, methodology and tools (ORCA, RCSA, Incident reporting and KRI) in line with the Bank’s OR risk appetite.
• Deputise for the Chief Risk Officer on an as needed basis.
• Ensure that an effective ORM reporting process is in place, enabling timely escalation of severe OR incidents and submission of ORM reports.
• Review and investigate major OR incidents to ensure proper corrective actions, identify root causes and drive effective preventive actions.
• To monitor process controls and efficiency across the Branch and to support relevant stakeholders in understanding and accepting where corrective action needs to be taken
• Development of metrics to be used to monitor the branch’s risk management performance
• Facilitate the NPPA framework with the required level of risk assessment as well as risk review and approval of procedural changes.
• Raising and embedding Operational risk awareness and a sound Operational Risk culture across the Branch
• Deliver workshops, training, presentations to relevant stakeholders
• Provide oversight for Risk Events, analysis of root causes, patterns identified, validation of corrective actions and procedural updates
• Ensure that operational risks faced by the London business are proactively identified.
• Track resolution / mitigation of risk and report to management as necessary.
• Analyse and report Operation Risk Events
• As a member of the Risk Management team to play a wider role in risk management issues as determined by the Chief Risk Officer.

The Successful Senior Lead – Operational Risk Will Have:

• University Degree
• At least 8 years experience within the Risk area
• At least 5 years experience within financial services
• Operational risk management/internal audit experience essential
• Incumbent must have experience in writing procedures
• Written need to be of the highest standard to represent the bank in a professional and credible manner both internally and externally.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
